The play offers a poignant & critical discourse of the power-driven hierarchy including patriarchal structures that have historically dominated societal narratives, highlighting the intertwined oppression of sub-altern, woman and mother-nature. This perspective resonates deeply with ecofeminism, a philosophical & activist movement that explores the connections between the exploitation of proletariat including women and degradation of the natural world. The oppression of women, common people and nature is a symptom of deeper systemic issues rooted in patriarchy, capitalism and colonialism. Addressing these issues requires a holistic approach that recognizes the constitutive value of common people, women & natural resources and seeks to dismantle structures of domination. The play seems to envision a socio-politico-cultural shift toward recognizing the intrinsic worth of common people, women & nature, challenging entrenched power dynamics. Along with the original play written by Supratim Roy, the performance takes its journey through a thought-provoking adaptation of T.S.Eliot’s iconic poem, “The Wasteland”. As a thespian, the performance is our artistic tribute to Eliot’s masterpiece on its centenary, exploring themes of disillusionment and spiritual decay.
